Unless you're talking about "licorice" as in "gummy candy" which can be any flavor whatsoever (ie apple, strawberry, etc.) and has no actual "licorice" flavor. But "black licorice" is the flavor of the licorice plant.
it has literally nothing at all to do with "licorice" in any way. No relation to the plant or flavor. It's just gummy candy. (One of my personal faves, it's really good, but still just candy.)

Maybe I don't have a very refined pallet but it tasted a bit like Jager without the sugar and more liquorice. And it just gets you drunk no green fairies.

It's more black licorice, which is a controversial flavor anywhere.

They don't use the licorice flavor from the plant anymore. They usually use anise as a replacement.

In America at least, red licorice is far more popular.
I'm not a nerd, so I don't know the process of making licorice.

Licorice just means candy that's in a twisted shape, and any definition that came before is outdated and uncivilized.

You can't buy real absinthe these days. The stuff they call Absinthe isn't much different than Jagermeister.
