Unless you're talking about "licorice" as in "gummy candy" which can be any flavor whatsoever (ie apple, strawberry, etc.) and has no actual "licorice" flavor. But "black licorice" is the flavor of the licorice plant.
it has literally nothing at all to do with "licorice" in any way. No relation to the plant or flavor. It's just gummy candy. (One of my personal faves, it's really good, but still just candy.)

In America at least, red licorice is far more popular.
