Forgetting people's names, or worse deadnaming them, shows a lack of regard for their feelings, wishes, rights, or traditions even if the person doing it is not doing it from a mean spirited place.

Like how walking into someone's house with your shoes on when they are shoes off household is disrespectful even if your intent was not to be disrespectful.

If he is forgetting their name, then he is not honoring that name.

I'll also say that just identifying the teacher as broadly forgetful is also reading into things and giving him an unearned benefit of the doubt. If his forgetfulness of trans peoples names was enough to warrant it being listed then it would imply that it is specific to them and not everyone as a whole.

To present it all differently, you stated "You can respect a trans person's name while also forgetting it." So then I would ask of you, how? How does forgetting their name demonstrate that you respect it?

However, all of that aside, the point here was that there are multiple items on this list that are presented as if they all belong in different boxes where if you actually explored them and broke them down many of them are not actually competing values.

For example the bit about he thinks he should be paid better. Most people think they should be paid better even when they are paid quite well such as C Suite level employees. "Does he think the lowest paid workers in society deserve to be paid better?" would be a better barometer of his political leanings than his perception of his own wages.
