One of the most surreal childhood memories I have is being about 6 or 7 and they were irrigating or something from the big creek that ran through the farm. Well somehow the water went down to pretty much nothing in one part of it and there were a bunch of fish in it. Well we used to have an old black farm hand named Hawk (rip king you were awesome) so he had me and my brother go into the little shallow area and pull out a ton of fish that had gotten trapped. It was all mostly carp. Well he helped us put them into the bed of his old pickup truck and then we rode with him to the black section of town. He pulled up and went inside a house for a minute and then came back out with like 4 black men. Next thing I know all the black people in the neighborhood came pouring out of their houses and they started handing out the carp. They were all grateful and excited and Hawk made sure that they all thanked me and my brother for catching them for them.
