Making you poorer in long term ? You have to remember Nazis are importing more from US than exporting and selling all gas to EU instead of Asia is not beneficial. Goal was forcing Germany to buy 20% of its gas at premium from US.

That’s not how economy is working, increasing gas production will lower gas companies profits and there is also chances of pissing other gas countries that will lower the gas prices because their FC is much lower than US to get their mark share back. Imagine if you have 10 guns and neighbor A is ready to buy the first 5 guns for 100 buxx and the other for 5 for 50 and there is neighbor B who is ready to buy 5 guns for 100 buxx. You’ll try to sell both neighbors each 5 guns. That was the gas goal of US. It also wouldn’t hurt German economy much. But only buying US gas will shrink German economy and they’ll be able to buy less shit from US. You don’t milk your cow dry, you need to take care of her to get more milk.
