Iβm currently living in Boston and I have a bunch of wonderful friends who are Indian. They are great and I feel like we have so much in common. they treat me with a lot of respect and kindness.
What kind of gets under my skin is when one of my Caucasian colleagues brings up something like βdude tell Sundar Pichai to fix Gmailβ . There are many other times when theyβd bring up other Indian CEOs. I remind them that I am Pakistan and not Indian. These ignorant people only associate Pakistan with OBL raid. It makes me feel as though I am inferior to my Indian counterparts. I know it is the perception of ignorant people, but the feeling cuts very deep.
I feel so ashamed sometimes by the comments. I want to tell these people that when they bring up things like these, it hurts me. But I do not want to be that guy at the workplace.
Is there anyone else living in USA specifically who had to deal with this? My morale is so low when I go to work.
