The best part is I can't even tell which side is trashier. She seems pretty nuts, but in these kinds of families there's usually certain people who get covered for and everyone else is held up to a very high standard of accountability. And that has nothing to do with who is good or bad, or who did what.

What I gathered, and I'm not terribly confident about this intelligence, is that her brother has (some of?) her kids and won't let her see them because she was a crackhead or something several years ago. She alleges that she's been clean for years and fixed her life but her brother is a crackhead or something and the family just kind of pretends that it never happens when he does it.

So on one hand, she's been convicted of something and done prison time. Which must have been pretty darn major because they don't send a woman upstate for 3 years for no reason. On the other hand, she got through 2 years of parole which means she pissed clean for that long. It's entirely plausible that the brother has been using all this time but has had his family covering for him so he never got a conviction and doesn't have his piss tested.
