Can someone explain-like-i'm-r-slurred (ELIR) how the frick these things stay upright?

Is it an on board computer making millions of micro-adjustments per second to the thrust of each individual engine/burner??

Yes, and

Look into the Inverted Pendulum, that’s effectively what this is. It’s a physics problem where the mass is above where force gets distributed, which is difficult along a 2D axis (much less 3D where there isn’t a rail guiding it). The computing is doing a similar calculation like the pendulum problem along all angles and accounting for flex across the entire aerostructure while it slows down from +Mach 1

Think of it as this video but across every direction while also slowing down, which makes every movement more extreme/volatile
