Required ReadingI was browsing facebook and saw that Tara Strong posted a tribute to him. My heart immediately sank and it caught me totally off guard.
Celebrity deaths don't normally hit me but this one did. I actually met him at a convention one time and got his autograph and a picture for free. The guy didn't charge anyone a penny and I always really admired that. His autograph is literally hanging on my wall right now.
The guy defined the role of Batman for 30 years far more than any of the live-action actors. Arkham City is still easily in my top 5 games of all time and I remember doing my homework in advance so that I could grind it on the night that it was released. I can't believe that I'll never hear him voice Batman again. It's honestly surreal because he's been the main voice of the character for my entire life.

The DCAU is the only good capeshit. I think it's the only truly realized form of Batman, with an entire life and death arc that is monumental. And yet thats only a part of it.

Having an actual story arc, and not running endlessly like the comics definitely made it stand out at the time.
The Shirley Walker theme they used in every one of those connected shows was great too. Those Bruce Timm cartoons were really part of an era of cartoons that didn’t treat children like idiots, or try to groom them like the current shit being made.

The Amazo episodes are better than most media period, certainly the sum of all capeshit, I mean they actually answer "why does man exist" or rather, why does one man choose to exist while fully grasping those reasons.

I still don’t know why we’ve yet to see a Batman Beyond movie. It’s the only comic movie that would actually get me really excited. Bruce Wayne was more interesting as a depressed old man than he was as Batman imo.

It's pretty arrogant to assume that just because you can do something, everyone can. Batman is a complex character with a lot of depth, and it takes a special kind of actor to bring him to life. Plus, Mark Hamill is a legend and his death is a huge loss to the Batman community. As for "capeshitters," I'm assuming you're referring to fans of superhero movies/comics/etc. We're not all idiots who spend our days drooling over pictures of Batman - we're passionate fans who appreciate the hard work that goes into creating these movies and characters.
