Especially depressing are the ones who

Like holy frick it becomes painful to see. Havenβt even made it to highschool yet for half of them and their fricked. Their lives are fricked. I have no idea if Iβve ever convinced someone to at least reflect, but I still got to try, you know? I've sperged about this a few times before, so I'll try to keep it short and concise for a change, but I truly think this shit is "raising" a new "lost generation" whose fricked up psyche means they will never be able to lead a normal adult life. I guess the question is what percentage of zoomers actually is like this, and how many of those will grow out of it. But I fear it might be a substantial amount, maybe enough to destabilise the status quo at a time where other regions of the world are already challenging the west's grip on the world. Though to be fair im talking about overly-online children in general, not just those that become trains. But the 5 year olds that get parked in front of the IPad for the day, and grow up completely stunted mentally and socially. I'd disregard it as internet shit if I didnt hear about those in real life so often.
I really just hope they grow out of it, or that I die before they frick everything up and im too old to go off-grid...

Yeah thats the thing. The people that enter college right now were already teenagers when youtube really took off, the first smartphones are only about a decade old. Iβm 22. That means I was born in 1999. My first phone was a flip phone in case I got hurt. That was in fifth grade. My first smartphone was an iphone 4 I got at 13. The first time I saw hardcore porn I was 11 and it fricked up my sexuality.
Now kids are getting modern smartphones in the second grade. And toddlers are being given tablets by bad parents to keep them occupied (elsa gate). It's pretty fricked. I've pretty much prepared myself to lose my career for ~15 years to educate my kids properly because the notion of sending them to public schools is so fricked up nowadays. Obviously that has its own problems, but public school in my time was just tough. So my first major I picked was psychology, and in my senior HS english class we had to do a research report on what sort of careers our major would lead us to, and part of the report involved interviewing someone in the field.
So, I ended up finding out we had a school psychologist (who knew?), and interviewed her. She was 23 years old, and unironically the hottest girl I had ever met up that point. Had a graduate degree in psychology so I assumed she was also smart as frick.
She told me she honestly hated it, and especially as a guy I should go get an actual mens job, either a trade or STEM. She said she was already planning on going back to school but needed money and being an HS psychologist was the best she could get, and she literally did nothing all day. She said that interview was probably the best opportunity she could have to make a difference in someones life the entire semester. I only knew her for 15 minutes but she was the first person I think that ever spoke to me truthfully.
So I sperged out and got an engineering degree and I've been a cynical butthole ever since. Shit really stuck with me for some reason.
