Just read an article in which one of the commentators mentions as an aside that it would really help Joe Biden if a supreme court member died.

It seems stupidly obvious and wouldn't it be a lot more politically productive than killing US politicians right? But I have never heard of this even as a conspiracy, you used to read about the zombie RGB never the opposite and probably easier alternative?

Senators and Representatives are in theory replaced by their respective legislatures or State governors to various degrees (potentially as interim appointments, or triggering new elections before the seat is filled), which could be contested at the State level depending on the laws of said State government. SCOTUS replacements are effectively a Federal matter, specifically with POTUS nomination unchecked and confirmation only requiring the Senate affirm.

I get the basics of that but isn't that why killing a supreme court member when the party you like is in power would be such a effective move and people get very motivated on either side about stuff like abortion. Find it weird that doesn't even seem to be a topic for conspiracies.

The most take is that you're probably correct, however the absolute uproar of such an occurrence may be too much for said apparatus to undertake. Killing a beloved Irish President is one thing in the '60s, but now another Irishman is in office.
