Let's check in on Roosterteeth - RWBY Season 9 announced as Crunchyroll exclusive

At this point /r/roosterteeth is basically just a bunch of people lurking and waiting for the company to formally fail. View counts on Achievement Hunter have continued to plunge since the "Loud is What We Do" fiasco:

This is a company with dozens of employees all centred around a YouTube channel that gets < 2,000,000 views a month across all of its videos combined.

Most people's hopes for the wider success of Roosterteeth rested with the upcoming season of American weebshit series RWBY. It was finally announced a couple of days ago, only it's going to be shown exclusively on Crunchroll and not RT's own premium service RT First. This has pissed off their last 5 remaining RT fans, who now pay $59.99 annually to not be able to watch RT's flagship show. Whoops!

This seems like it's Roosterteeth's new daddy Warner Brothers offloading RT content elsewhere before it closes the curtains on them for good.

There's lots of sneethe on the subreddit but nothing unexpected or worth posting.

It's kinda crazy how there are dead and buried Youtube channels with millions of subscribers now. I randomly stumbled across some guy who used to get millions of views per video just a few years ago, who was now releasing 1 video/month and struggling to get 10k views.

At some point you either have to evolve what you're making or realize it's over and quit.

YouTube became way more algorithmically driven. The site just shows me whatever it thinks I'll watch, regardless of what I tell it. I honestly don't think I've subscribed to a channel in years

Yeah, there's just way too much shit on Youtube for people to curate it themselves.

The number varies but it's common for only like 10-15% of views to come from subscribers, almost certainly even less than that if you're relying on making varied videos that are kinda clickbaity and hoping they pop off, and more if you're doing like a regular series - good for steady retention but limits growth a lot and generally starts steadily declining, like RT above, people get bored and move on eventually.

It used to be the front page would at least show a lot from your subscriptions, but now you have to go to a separate page. The subscription view quickly becomes worthless because of how much many channels upload, and the inability to sort. So they created the notification bell as a kind of extra subscription level, which falls apart if you get notifications from more than 1-2 channels. The whole system needs a rework, but my guess is they ran a bunch of tests and decided a worse subjective user experience still keeps people watching longer.

Depends, mine occasionally has a lot of shit from subscriptions on it, lately it's less though I agree.

I think stuffing constant stream of new crap that might pique your interest in front of you keeps you engaged longer than just giving you the few videos you're truly interested it. It's kinda like supermarkets scattering the items on sale all around the store in hope you're buy things that you don't need as you're searching for the things that you actually came to buy.

Epic Meal Time is a good example of this. Was never a fan of them but stumbled upon them somehow a year or two and they get like 6k views.
