Itβs actually really funny to tell on yourself with this comparison, because if you really think Birth of a Nation isnt a great film and shouldnt be held up as one you view film as a not as a medium for art but for commercial entertainment. The exact people who say we shouldnt like that movie are purely marvel fans who ignore that Stan Lee was a piece of shit anyway

Next thing you know these people are going to be telling me that Triumph of the Will and Olympia aren't great films.

If Stan was alive today theyβd hate him because he was a big centrist and didnβt support political radicals. Disney has just washed his image into the nice old man who made marvel and was progressive.

He a showman and editor first and writer second so he publicly takes nearly all the credit for the silver age of marvel when marvel artists were expected to draw, plot, and even write their own comics in some cases where Stan would then edit the dialog. Stan Lee certainly played a very important editorial role in marvel but he was better at reigning an artists creativity in rather than creating shit himself. He was also involved in a suspicious level of dot com scam companies after he left marvel.
