Hot take: American hospitals suck so much butt because they're staffed by too many women. Each person working there is so siloed so that none of them have to take responsibility except for the one basic mundane task they're trained for. None of these people are capable of thinking outside the exact procedures of their training at all because that requires having at least the test levels of a 12 year old boy. (surgeons excluded because realistically they're the only medical staff with real talent beyond memorizing flash cards)

Last time I went in I had totaled a motorcycle and came in covered in blood and...I sat in the god darn waiting room for 5 minutes. Neighbor what? This is Rush Chicago, not exactly a dingy low end hospital either. I'm not coming to the ER for shits and giggles, it's the only thing my insurance makes me pay a $100 copay for. Why is my butt in the waiting room getting blood on the seat while two women at the front desk are gossiping about frick knows what? You could walk into there with a gunshot wound and they'd ask you to sign in.
