I read this guyβs wiki page after seeing this post on rsp and holy shit was his life tumultuous and the man himself absolutely pathetic. Reading about the death of his first wife is chilling. He was also most likely gay and his predilection towards young girls was his way of being straight despite not being attracted to the secondary sexual characteristics of adult women. Apparently he turned his life around near the end but I really canβt feel too much sympathy.

Yeah puyi is really interesting to read about and itβs super hard to make any discernible analysis of whether he was good or bad he was just 100% influenced by whoever had control over him at any given time and was literally centuries out of step with the modern world but it goes to show how impressive old China was at maintaining its heritage and monarchy and tradition before warlords and monarchy fricked it all up
