(CNN) -- The Aflac duck lost its voice Monday after the insurance giant fired the comedian behind the commercial quack for tweeting jokes about the earthquake and tsunami that have devastated Japan.
The Columbus, Georgia-based company fired Gilbert Gottfried less than an hour after discovering the tweets, according to a news release from Aflac.
"Gilbert's recent comments about the crisis in Japan were lacking in humor and certainly do not represent the thoughts and feelings of anyone at Aflac," Michael Zuna, the company's senior vice president and chief marketing officer, said in a statement.
The earthquake and tsunami have left more than 2,400 people dead and thousands more in shelters or missing.

Peepeees are objectively more aesthetically pleasing than v*ginas.
Now, I am a massive cute twink, but I wouldn't think much of a straight man who just prefers peepees (like carp for example). I just recoil in horror every time I see a v*gina. Not even getting into uncut vs cut or size debates, the vast majority of peepees are more pleasing to the eye. And don't even get me started on female vs male genital hygiene. You know v*ginas bleed once a month, right? Have you ever seen pictures of a yeast infection? I guarantee it would be eye-opening. Peepeees on the other hand self-clean several times per day if you're hydrated. My uncut brethren may need to pay a little more attention to hygiene, but this is still vastly easier to do than v*ginal hygiene.
Yes yes I know "muh reproduction" now maybe I would understand this argument if you could choose the gender of your child. But the chance of spawning another icky f*male is just too high. I will stick with men going their own way with other men thank you very much.
