It’s crazy how so much of the “international community” (like actual people, not govs) think weed is bad still. Once you leave American / western euro spaces online, a lot of people think weed is a hard drug still or at least worse than smoking and booze (when both those things are probably plaguing their countries). I guess it was like that here 15 years ago so it’s not surprising and as much as I think culture is homogenizing, we probably all mostly look at English speaking western spaces.

I’ve been a regular user for over a decade and I agree it’s bad. It can clearly ruin an unprepared person’s life and I know people where weed has caused psychological regression, paranoid attacks, a psychosis etc. Smoking anything is also just by definition a bringer of lung cancer.

Still it’s not like an evil substance, and it being illegal serves mostly the various mafias. Legalization is definitely helpful, as is being serious about it. imho the soft/hard drug dichotomy is bullshit. Because drugs, generally speaking, affect ppl differently. For some Ritalin is like speed, for others it makes them come down. For some weed makes them dull, unproductive and zombie like, for others it barely affects the way they conduct their everyday life. If you’re a teen it can literally damage your brain development. All these situations are different.
