I was banging a single mom recently who was big into the church scene and she tells me how the political rift has made it's way into churches these days. The younger crowd wants to do stupid shit like accept cute twinkry and support BLM. Of course everyone who isn't an r-slured cute twink is against this and it results in a lot of drama.

Honestly, what is the point of being Christian and practicing religion if your position is that the Bible is wrong and you should be able to act like a degenerate cute twink without consequences?

Once a month or so I get to listen to my dad rant about how the gay issue is going to kill the Methodist church.

There was a vote a few years about accepting openly gay ministry and the progressive side was considered dominant on the issue. The south eastern churches had said they were going to split if the vote won so the progressive wing of the church offered them a really poor deal if they went that route. The national church technically owns all the assets and if the southern churches split they would have had to pay something like twice the market value of their buildings and the like.

Anyway, the vote comes and the progressives lose because no one thought to factor in the African churches. The southern churches offer the progressives the same deal they were offered which they couldn't even complain about the unfairness of because it was their deal.

That was a few years ago and the progressive churches are doing really poorly now. My dad blames progressive preaching because it's got a lot of talk of privilege and guilt and if people wanted to feel guilty they'd be baptist. I take his word for it because I'm a twice a year Christian anyway.

Based black churches. So did the progressive churches actually split?

Not yet, they need to wait for the right time to ask for a new deal because they don't have the funds to take the deal that they backed themselves into. They'll probably die of a lack of members before they actually split.

Also I'm not sure if I made it clear enough that the churches that swayed the vote are actually in Africa. So black, but not what you normally think of with "Black Churches."

In a liberal democracy? It's an aesthetic and an identity, if you didn't already collect enough to satisfy you. Genuinely not all that much different than a hobby or watching sports matches.

Like yeah in the past religion was bigger part of people's lives and was the cornerstone of morality and had heavy influence on politics. Nowadays, the morality is liberalism and the politics is democracy. Stripped of all these things, with attempt to increase inclusivity and water down definitions, it's not surprising.

It's like when people scream at leftoids "lol but muslims oppress women and gays, why do you support them?". Well, because they support the aesthetics and self identity part, not all the other stuff.
