I never understood why enbies compare themselves to fictional shapeshifters. Isn't an enbie someone who is uncomfortable presenting themself as either gender? That should make them the polar opposite of most fictional shapeshifters, who can assume male & female identities on the fly and make no fuss about it.

Also, from a worldbuilding perspective, any shapeshifter who tries to integrate themself into human society would probably assume a male default identity, because who the frick would willingly want to be a woman in a medieval land?
