The whole thing boils down to cultural bullshit. Pigs arent anymore stupid than dogs yet it's okay to farm pigs in the west but it's heresy that they farm dogs in the east.

No. It really does come down to the cultural norms of different countries (seriouspost incoming). Dogs and horses are big ones in the US because they are largely seen as pets or used for something other than food. But really as long as you are consistent with animal treatment you shouldn't have a problem with either being used as food. I think Scandinavian countries are pretty big on horse meat? And obviously many Asian countries do dog meat, though they have pretty brutal methods of killing them but that isn't inconsistent with other meat sources they use. Bring that in line with how pigs or cows are slaughtered in the US and I'd be fine with it tbh. I don't know that I'd eat dog but I wouldn't care if other people did.
