Hard work is like playing the lottery. It pays off for the lucky few while the rest have the value they generate stolen from them as they work themselves to an early grave.

I'm genuinely and completely baffled when I see takes like this (usually from some dem. soc. or outright commie). They usually insist that hard work doesn't ever, at the very least, improve one's station in life (no matter how marginal). They also think that a person can only become rich/successful by being given money or resources from their parents/relatives. Anyone else who achieves success must have gotten it from pure dumb luck. Therefore, they also think that the government must give everyone NEET bucks if they want people to become richer. Now, I'm not saying that all government programs are unnecessary. But how on earth do these people think developing countries, who started out dirt poor, managed to become (relatively) wealthy and successful over a short period of time? Singapore went from a real GDP per capita of $3503 and a literacy rate of 52.6% in 1960 to a real GDP per capita of $56349 and an education system that's consistently ranked top 10 in the world in 2020. How did all that wealth come about? Did the aliens inject money into Singapore from outer space? Did literally every Singaporean get lucky? Why do Western socialists, who live in highly developed countries, act like they were born in a single occupancy home with their entire family and had to walk 3km to get water every day? :marseyconfused:

They aren't wrong, the problem as always with them is that they draw the wrong conclusions.

Think of it as you are a starving man, now your choices are starve to death or go fishing with a 50-50 success rate of catching fish every day.

There's a bigger boat next to you that catches fishes easily.

Do you stop fishing and starve to death just because a bigger nice boat having an easier time exists?

It's worse than that. You stop fishing and then say it's the other boat's fault that you starved to death.

He should have given everyone his fish.

They put in the bare minimum, call it hard work and just assume the world is at fault when they don't get anywhere.

Cough cough

I think I'm coming down with boomeritis

Liberal democracy is the cucked version of a battle royale. Imagine fighting it out to the death in a competitive market and you "die" by falling into a 1200/month safety net, plus a few extra hundred for every child u pop out
