This has been on going since Huey long decided that LSU was only public university that matter in Louisiana. He was right btw.
Ever since then the other schools, namely University of Louisiana at Lafayette, have been trying to swing their peepee to get some name recognition. Pretty much every school has changed their name to rebrand in hopes to not be some shithole school that really needs to be a 2 year juco.
ULL has been trying to rebrand into UL, they originally were USL. They are extremely bitter towards LSU. They try to crave out a little section of coonass country but a few times a year they get reminded who matters. This is example of that
