Kabukicho Tower’s Gender-Neutral Pottys Shut Down After a Month

Kabukicho Tower opened its controversial gender-neutral pottys in April, and it’s already been shut down just a month later with a temporary partition that splits the restrooms back into two areas, for men and women.

A Twitter user shared a photo showing the pottys that were available to anyone regardless of gender are now separated into men’s and women’s pottys with a partition:

The Twitter user confirmed that the partition is being used to split the previously gender-neutral pottys, and the women’s section is more spacious. Other users refrained from taking photos inside the restrooms but confirmed that the pottys had been divided by a partition.

With the failure of Kabukicho Tower’s gender-neutral pottys, many have begun to question the LGBT bill and whether it should pass. If it does, people can expect more money to be wasted on similar initiatives.

Japanese Internet comments on the matter:

“So they ended up dividing it 🤣🤣🤣

They should stop already.”

“Women all knew it would end this way, and it’s really lame that the people who weren’t listening to women just kept going down the path to failure.”

“LGBT will have no future unless they seriously think about the reason why this partition was created.”

“That’s so stupid. Why didn’t they make them normal pottys?”

“That partition is the embodiment of stupidity.”

“And that’s the end of gender-neutral pottys. So fu**ing dumb.”

“It’s for the best. I want the mayor and prefectural governor who listened to the activists to take a look and think hard about it. (‘・ω・`)”

“So they finally realized that pottys will ultimately be required to be divided between men and women?”

“It looks like it’ll be some kind of historical structure.”

“I’ve never seen a facility undergo so much change in such little time.”

“Those pottys just ended up costing money for nothing.”

They were just trying to increase their birth rate by forcing men and women to be in the same room together

Imagine living in a country where LGBTs are actually expected to do some self-reflection and be rational.

:marseysurprised:

No seriously, what was the reason? The article doesn't even speculate, let alone cite an incident. I assume it was a bunch of whiny cute twinks like they quote who complained enough that the tower gave in, but I guess it being japan there might have been harrasment and groping and the like.
