Meat must be banned in order for humanity to sufficiently deal with climate change.

Not so long ago i got into an argument on my own country's subreddit (r/Polska) that animals being killed for food isnt literally second holocaust and that saying so is giant slap in the face of actual holocaust victims. Our beloved veganitors didnt like it and i got -30 downvotes and like 3 day temp ban lol.

Overall the polish subreddit is awful. Poisoned to the brim with idpol obsession and majority of the active users are like the most extreme cases of srdines

Is it really that bad? I thought it being in Polish would help shield from the worst.

I have a feeling a subreddit that was just regular Polish people would be banned pretty quick

This would actually destroy the earth as the calories needed on the planet to survive would destroy all land eventually due to farming limitations. Meat is calorie efficient and easier to store.

According to a quick search there's a MILLION+ calories in a cow. Preserved properly and ignoring the fact that you need food other than cows it would last you over year.

Where do cows get their million+ calories?

Soy, which limits the food supply of average redditors, thus controlling their numbers. :marsoy:

Wouldn't we need farmland to grow that grass?

Grass grows in places unsuitable for farmland and grows itself.

Similarly, you can feed all kinds of vegetable products to livestock that humans couldn't digest or would find revolting. You can even turn the animals loose in the field to root for themselves without having to harvest the veggies.

Akshully I eat negative 900 calories a day (4 Venti frappachinos, a breakfast sandwich, a small bag of chips at lunch and for a snack, some cake and I skip dinner) and I STILL keep gaining weight. Science = disproven

Poultry and fish are the most sustainable forms of meat. Cows drink shitloads of water and produce a lot of CO2 and methane, making their caloric density sort of a moot point in terms of environmental impact.

This is actually a really backwards assessment. Overfishing will kill us 100x faster than climate change. When fish are older they spawn higher egg counts. The average fish age is much younger now. It's funny I just talked about someone today that we should stop fishing except for certain countries that need it.

It's only a backwards assessment if you're conflating the statement "poultry and fish are the most sustainable forms of meat" with "we should deplete natural fish populations via overfishing". Aquaculture, yo. Farm that shit. And while that option isn't devoid of environmental quagmires, it beats beef production any day of the week. And that's not even mentioning poultry, which is more sustainable than both beef and fish.

No. It's not replacing meat anytime soon. That's a technooptimist cope. Here's a good article on it: https://thecounter.org/lab-grown-cultivated-meat-cost-at-scale/

The short of it is right now meat comes in these nice living sacs that have their own immune system and everything. The current way of making meat in a vat requires a clean room and there a physical limitations to the size of clean rooms. We literally can't scale up lab grown meat enough to compete with real meat in the foreseeable future. What is instead going to happen is they are going to making you eat soy/bug burgers and there's nothing you can do about it.

Aren’t cows primary consumers and most fish both primary and secondary at best?

Jump in the discussion.

No the vegans are actually right about meat farming being massively inefficient, what they fail to understand is any of the reasons why, like subsidising our farming industries heavily having the consequence of farmers not bothering to invest in better technologies.

Well, some forms are but cows certainly aren't one of them.

Most emissions are caused by industry, going full vegan would reduce a third of that by half.

Or in other words would do frick all and cost a lot of money.
