Tipping is controversial on Reddit because there are tons of euros and euroboos who think it’s a barbaric us-only custom. You can easily tie in multiple angles to maximize redditor rage. For instance:
Saying you don’t want to tip because the store should pay the wage not you
Saying you don’t tip because you make less than the server and don’t get tips
Exaggerating how much tipped workers actually get
Saying that cash tips are tax evasion
Calling the irs on tipped employees
Saying the minimum wage is too high to deserve a tip
Being really stingy with tips (example: the service was SOOOOOO good I let the server keep the change when I paid with a $20 and it was $18.75)
Making employees work extra hard for tips
Putting the tip out at the beginning of the meal and removing it $1 at a time whenever the waitress takes too long or spills something or whatever
Trying to tip the owner of the restaurant instead of the employee because he’s the ones who made the restaurant good and the employee just brought it out to you
Idk I’m just spitballing here but it seems like it would be kind of funny. It’s been done before on Facebook, there’s a page called “bodybuilders against tipping “ that’s a few years old, maybe look there for inspiration. I think some customer copy checks with rude/funny messages could go viral on one of those twitter accounts or cringe subs and bring in some easily baited people. Let me know if you want in.

Does part of the tip go to the chefs as well? Because if not I was thinking perhaps refusing to tip because you don't like how the waiters hoard all the tips for themselves despite their job being the most expendable or asking to see the chefs and tipping them directly and not the waiters, dunno
Edit: also you should make this a country club thread or you're giving away the bait for people that might be lurking

Good idea on the club thread.
here's an example post I thought up https://old.reddit.com/r/AgainstTipping/comments/q8rjdy/whats_so_special_or_difficult_about_carrying_a/?sort=controversial

I have no experience baiting so don't take my word for it but this sounds believable enough to me, perhaps you could crosspost this to r-unpopularopinion as well in some way to lure people to the sub?
Also what about tipping only POC workers? Or is it too obvious bait?
