Kind of related - my local target recently started locking things up and carrying fewer items due to shoplifting which is almost exclusively a π thing around here. You can't openly discuss this no no topic. It can only be done in anon situations or behind closed doors with trusted people and euphanisms.
I'm not even sure πs have self awareness regarding this situation (or literally any other actual issue in the black community). This has always been truly bizarre to me. Even when I was really young. Something has always seemed a little off.

That's because in my limited experience of the world the concept of separating a problem from your culture is a very western concept. For every other group any attack on any problem within the community is valued the same as an attack on the community itself. The pro of this is that it unites the group the con is that if a group develops a habit that's literally killing them they are at high risk of ignoring it till the moment they die then blame it all on fate/racism/evil take your pick.

Poverty is a response to pretty much all of these. Inter-generational, culturally-engrained poverty especially. It's not specific to burger πs either, the historically impoverished communities share the same exact problems worldwide. Propensity towards all these things is so obviously and directly related to parents' income, that any other explanation is secondary at best.

Of course life is messy. But in this case you can clearly see that by far the strongest correlation between the rates of all the things you mentioned is social class, or, more obviously - income. If social class has a historical ethnic component to it - then it becomes tied to an ethnicity, too, though it is nowhere near permanent and can easily be reversed.
Let me give you an example - there was an institutional, legalised discrimination against Jews in the Russian Empire. As a result of it (at least partially) - they were the majority of the underclass on the western fringes (the only places they were allowed to live) and were criminal as shit, to the point that to this day a lot of criminal jargon in Russian has Jewish roots. And that's Jews, a group that always had a massive, extremely rich merchant class and propensity towards helping each other on ethnoreligious basis. With less organised groups, it's nowhere near as easy or as quick to escape intergenerational poverty.
