Yes. A large amount of Country music is effectively stolen from multiple African cultures where it's not ripped from Scottish & Irish traditional music or just straight from blues, rock, or modern pop.

Hi, time for seriouspost. This is literally in itself considered racist by many ethnomusicologists, because it implies that black Americans did not create their own music, but rather simply carried it over from Africa. This has been repeatedly debunked by blues historians. If you’re confused as to why I’m talking about blues in a post about country music, you do not know enough to read the rest of this post.

While African features do still exist in blues, which we refer to as “survivals”, they are extremely limited and very difficult to definitively attribute to “Africa”. Country genres have even clearer links to Europe, but also has picked up some African features. We absolutely can debate the “stolen” bit too. It’s not stealing when you hear your black neighbors play and you play it too.

Blues also shows many features of European music, but for the most part, it is completely original. Hebridean features are just as common as African ones. Kubik can go frick himself. You absolutely cannot fricking attribute call and response songs, literally as old as the work day itself, to Africa. Men sing when they work. We just do that.

Anyone who says “blues/country is from Africa” ia 100% leftoid agendaposter. They are 100% completely wrong according to leftoid ethnomusicologists. This is the case of a redditor making some very easily said claim in one sentence, without the slightest understanding of how complex the question of the origins of the blues actually is.

You can hear me playing my violin on the grave of a good man who loved his hometown. You know who I mean. I absolutely deserve to be mocked for this post. Goodbye, dramanauts!

I’ve also noticed that Latin American music or culture in general on Wikipedia seems to think all creativity and originality came from indigenous and/or Africans.

Leftoids: “Latinx culture is heckin’ valid and whity bigots must learn to love it”

Also leftoids: “No, your culture is not Latinx but indigenous and Black!”

Then how did I end up in the police car for dancing down the street naked, eating a taco with a sombrero on?
