Taking my current location, Southwest Missouri, we can see exactly how much you need to live in "most housing"
The minimum wage of Missouri is 10.30. If you're working 40 hours a week, with 52 weeks in a year, you're making 21,400 yearly. That's 1783 a month.
Considering you can rent a nice trailer home (not in a trailer park, well maintained) for 700, you have over 1,000 each month leftover on minimum wage. If you can't survive on that you should be executed.
Now I bet you're thinking "what about in the cities with higher costs of living?". I have a simple solution, MOVE SOMEWHERE YOU CAN AFFORD
