What's funny to me is that the TV show goes even more out of its way than the book to distance itself from criticizing religion altogether. There's even an episode about trying to get a baby baptized! And when June's mom mocks Christians in a church, she's portrayed as a angry butt who also wants to control her daughter's future. But r*dditors watch that and think June's mom is the ideal or something.
