-6 points holy shit consent is not an all you can eat buffet. you don’t get a free pass if someone says something sexual about themselves 1 or 5 or 10 times it’s not ok.

:marseylongpost: :marseypedo:

It's Millennials. Many of the same people who were totally into Britney Spears and Christina Aquilera singing about s*x with older men and wearing skimpy outfits (or nothing!) in their videos are now parents, and the prude-switch has flipped in their brain. Now s*x is dirty and scary and awful and they're totally against anyone under 21 having it with anyone else. And being a generation that was raised online, they've made it an online movement to call anyone even a single minute over 18 years of age who is dating someone a minute under 18 a "p-do". These same people give their teenaged kids a cell phone and an SUV and send them out onto the freeway to text and drive at 80 mph without so much as batting an eye, but if they find out their 17-years, 11-months, and 22-days-old daughter is dating a 19-year-old guy, then they freak out because their daughter is in danger and he's a p-dophile who corrupted her (even though they met in class when they were both under 18). My generation didn't get this. At least not in my part of the world. Gen X was ignored enough that we were just free to experiment as adolescents and young adults without people losing their minds over the idea that we were exploring our sexuality. Yeah, we hid our activities from parents as best we could, but our parents also weren't forming lynch mobs and ranting in the town square about 17-year-olds singing about s*x with anyone over 18. It was no big deal for our generation, for our older siblings' generations, and for our parents' generations. Now there's this "p-do panic" that reminds me a whole lot of the "Satanic panic" of the 80s. A lot of people losing their minds over the horrible things they imagine, but no real proof of any harm or epidemic of sexually-damaged adolescents. Just a lot of panic. Just a lot of "THEY'RE JUST CHILDREN" when it comes to s*x and ONLY s*x. Choosing a career, college prep courses, or agreeing to join the military to be sent overseas to kill people isn't outside the adolescent's ability to decide with these folks. Having s*x with someone is. Because s*x is the scariest, most dangerous, most serious thing in the entire world!!! Millennials and younger Gen Xers with adolescent kids need to get a grip. There's nothing wrong. Your kids are doing what YOU did. What WE did. What every generation of adolescents since the dawn of time did: Finding themselves. At the current rate of "BUT THEY'RE JUST CHILDREN!" I'm seeing on Reddit, it's going to become normal to see folks freaking out if anyone under 30 has s*x.

They never sang about s*x with old dudes though? Better example would have been Tatu which was obviously really creepy as frick even if you were young yourself at the time.

Tatu

Holy shit, that’s a blast from the past. All I can really remember is the repetitive “*they’re not gonna get us!*” chorus - that’ll probably be stuck in my head for days now.

Did Britney or Aquilera ever sing about s*x with old dudes? Don't remember that at all. Remember those (Russian ???) Kids Tatu though which would have been a way better example of what they are talking about. Don't Google Tatu unless you want to be on a list, it was fricking weird at the time and I was young then too.
