That whole situation was ridiculous, I mean I'm not usually conspiratorially minded but come on. The CF dude releases a long blog post saying they would never drop KF and even going so far as to say they were wrong to have dropped 8chan in the past and wouldn't do it again today, then 2 days later they drop them anyway and release an obviously hastily written post 180ing on everything they had just said. It's clear that someone made a pretty convincing threat to Cloudflare's business model.

Major media outlets were starting to pick up the story around the time of the first statement and it was pretty obvious that the narrative that was to be manufactured was a CEO of a major company supporting bigots. I am guessing survival instincts kicked in at that point.

It's still weird though because the example he used was something like cloudflare is like the fire department. It's their job to protect, not to determine who deserves protection. He seemed well aware of what the farms were when he spoke on it. To completely change his stance a couple days later is pretty suspect.
