If you shower properly every day and don't sweat and have mildly lucky genes you can probably avoid it.
But very few people check all three of those boxes. Lots of misguided people think they do though

Biggest problem is that people don't know how to properly wash/dry clothes. Fresh sweat isn't supposed to smell, but when it gets in contact with poorly dried cloths you smell like an old wash cloth.
