It was just alcohol and osteochondritis. Probably could've subclassified it as costochondritis but not really the role of the ED to determine that and would result in excess tests that didn't matter. We monitored the patient overnight and discharged with a 7 day script of 3 p/o 800mg ibuprofen. Chest pain caused him to be rushed in and attached to an EKG. After a couple minutes talking with the patient we had more than enough to deescalate the worry for something life threatening.
