I think the bigger (read: actual) story is how many Catholics are turning on the Pope over politics despite him being the top Eathly authority in their faith.
Do you know how many Catholics (Christians in general, really) would turn on Jesus if he came down today to preach all the same things that he used to? A brown guy from the middle east telling people to share and treat each other equally. He also chased some bankers around with a whip. He'd be back on a cross in a week's time. And then some enterprising charlatan would sell pieces of The Cross 2.0 along with Jesus' actual beard clippings in the gift shop of their mega church.
