Baldur's Gate modder that released popular mod that genderswaps a character causes redditors to :soyjaktantrum: because they find out that it is part of a straights-only mod pack :gigachad2: and is working on modding out non-white characters :marseykkkevil:

https://old.reddit.com/r/BaldursGate3/comments/18a4ryt/please_dont_support_the_ser_aylin_mod

The OP even avoids linking to it so here it is:

https://rpghq.org/forums/viewtopic.php?t=1122-no-alphabets-2-2-baldur-s-gate-3

According to the website the mod pack ensures that the gender and sexuality of world NPCs match medieval status quo so the top comment in the thread is "what about the fantastic elements!!1!!1!" :soyjakyell:

This dramanaut points out that y'all wont be mad if it was a straight character turned gay

Just don't install it if you dont want it magically summons a comment chain(idk what happens in the baldur's gate games)

This redditor thanks OP letting it know about the mod and is downmarseyd

I love the "It doesn't affect you" argument, because in reality it very much does and that's why people get so upset about it.

If you are a leftist you want to see the world move in a leftist direction so you will put gay people and communists in every piece of media and claim that it doesn't affect anyone else. But ofc the reason they are in the media in the first place is to affect others.

The same is naturally true when rightoids use the argument to justify moving media in a direction they want to see the world change.

It's just incredibly childish to have both groups systematically lying to each other and intentionally talking past each other because the alternative would be admitting that the state of media that they desire isn't just the "Norm" but instead the result of a concerted effort.

I really want to know if there is a name, or if someone coined a term, for this type of sociopathic gaslighting. Because it really is fricking creepy how they casually can just straight up lie and use such humiliation and manipulation tactics. Recently there is a similar case of the whole "Starfield pronouns guy" clip (which was also taken out of context BTW) where they post screenshots of Morrowind having a pick character s*x option and try to gaslight that this is exactly the same as pronouns.

Though in this case, 'it doesn't affect you' is true only for one side. A mod existing for a single-player game that you don't want to install only affects the one player.

Leftists would make the same argument about gay pride nights at clubs and drag queen story hour, and it isn't true then either. Things don't exist in a vacuum, ideologues want to change society and the existence of differing viewpoints is actively harmful to their cause. The "It doesn't affect you" argument is farcical no matter who is using it.

I don't think it's always farcical, just that so often it's applied by ideologues, as you say, so they're hypocritical about what does and doesn't affect them.

Which is funny when the easiest way to not have something affect you is to not have it presented to you constantly, but people can't stop sharing outrage bait and therefore making it affect others. This mod only affects those complaining about it because they know it exists; they know mods they don't like exist in the abstract, but it only becomes a problem when it's so specifically brought to their attention.

It's the whole basis of the whole :marseyoctopus2: :marseyoctopus4: discussions here, because as posters keep saying, the original story might be fake but the seethe generated is real.

No it's farcical no matter what, if you don't want baseball in society and some kid 2 towns over picks up the sport then that affects you indirectly because it normalizes the idea of playing baseball. it doesn't matter if you personally see it or not. The only time something doesn't affect you is if it is done in secret with the idea that it will never be discovered.

I was starting out disagreeing, but see your point now. The very fact I'd not be liking baseball is proof its existence affects me. I might be able to avoid it, but I'd still have to change the way I do things to accommodate that dislike of baseball, like switching the channel when it's aired on TV.

Why is this wingcuck cat forum the only place on the internet where people are free to have a sensible debate with people open to changing their mind.

I can't wait for everything on social media to be ai generated so people have to go back to making normal healthy relationships.

Maybe it's because -despite all current year divide- at the heart of what unites us is a site that has a button that inserts silly stickers into anything you write

Edit: Darnit, it's just available to paypigs. I take it all back, rdrama sucks now :marseyitsover:

Well, if they're single player games and it's an obscure mod not even allowed on the main mod sites, that's practically secret.

It's not secret in any way though because other people have seen it so it has influenced their view of the world which in turn influences the view of the world of people who interact with them and so forth

Sure. That influence would be curtailed if they stopped sharing the outrage, though. It only makes its way so far because they have to complain about it to everyone online, rather than ignore it and limit its reach.

For sure, their behavior is dumb if they want to limit its influence, but the rightoids claiming it doesn't affect anyone are pretending just as much as the lefties when they do it.

it affects the impact of the shared experience and people want their ideas and beliefs to be presented in the maximally impactful way, not some watered down stuff

Sure. Which means the mod is on the same level as slash fiction, which I guarantee none of those attacking the mod have a problem with.

You're right it's agenda-pushing, but as usual the problem is when it's only permitted in one direction.

When you finish BG3 you will think of The Gay Angel that helped you and this will positively impact your opinion of Gay People, removing this through a mod is removing Gay people from your conception of the world and is genocide.

Do you imagine something and fail to insert genders, races, and sexual orientations that you are not in this imaged world? Then you are a bigot. A sexy Indian imagining their future wedding without racially diverse americans present? Racist garbage.

Nah, 'diversity' means 'not white'. The sexy Indian wedding is racially diverse already.
