The Benedict Cumberbatch and Elizabeth Olsen-led flick boasts some incredible montages that add to an already established list of epic moments from the franchise that we can't help but revisit from time to time. From the Avengers assembling at Captain America's behest to Thanos' shocking snap, we list down the 10 best Marvel scenes from the extended Cinematic Universe that should definitely be on your rewatch list.

10. Stephen and the Ancient One (Doctor Strange) 2016

Doctor Stephen Strange's entry into the MCU is a visual spectacle. When a mentally broken, arrogant Stephen is brought into Kamar-Taj, the home and training grounds of the Masters of the Mystic Arts, he has no idea what awaits him. As the Ancient One (Tilda Swinton) opens his eyes to the spectrum of infinite universes, we get to witness possibly the wildest display of visual effects in a Marvel film ever. With Stephen zipping across dimensions in his astral form, the entire sequence is a treat to the eyes and the mind, formulating visuals that aren't easy to comprehend on first viewing. Even six years after the film's release, this scene still holds up against VFX-heavy moments in films that came after it.

The Russo Brothers helmed the second Captain America film and brought about a cosmic shift in the MCU's timeline. Finding out that Hydra had been nesting and growing within S.H.I.E.L.D. is a shocker and it puts Cap at the mercy of his employers. Post the attack on Nick Fury, the super-soldier recognises the threat within when he is cornered by no less than 10 guys inside an elevator. Confident in his skills, he allows them the time to rethink and get off before singlehandedly smacking them unconscious. Amid the political turmoil, this scene reminds viewers of Captain America's destructive combat ability.

8. T'Challa's coronation (Black Panther) 2018

One of the most successful films of the MCU, Black Panther introduces us to the wealthy and highly advanced civilisation of Wakanda. Taking inspiration from numerous African cultures, T'Challa's coronation sequence in the presence of all the tribes is a visual feast. With songs being sung and an open combat challenge for the crown in place, the moment is an important one. Not only does it display the glory of African traditions, but it also humanises the otherwise indestructible Black Panther and proves that he is fit to lead the nation without the powers of the heart-shaped herb.

The destruction of his hammer and the presence of a blood-thirsty sibling, who is not Loki, come as a jaw-dropper for Thor in Ragnarok. As Hela takes over Asgard and is confronted by her brother, she almost destroys him. Feeling powerless without Mjolnir, a vision from Odin reminds him that he is the God of Thunder regardless of what weapon he wields. The moment where Thor regains his powers to the amped-up beats of Led Zeppelin's The Immigrant Song is thrilling to witness. He rains down his fury upon Hela's forces, blasting them with bolts of lightning and establishing himself as the fiercest deity among all.

When team Cap and team Iron-Man lock horns at the Leipzig/Halle Airport, it is difficult to pick sides. Watching our favourite heroes go head-to-head against each other is a bitter pill to swallow, but the action sequences that come out of this conflict are a sight to behold. We get to witness never-seen-before character interactions and this is also the moment everyone's friendly neighbourhood Spider-Man is introduced into the MCU, changing its narrative forever.

5. I'm always angry (The Avengers) 2012

The first-ever superhero ensemble film in the MCU has a lot of landmark moments for the franchise. The final battle in New York against the Chitauri gives us a taste of what these heroes are capable of together. When Bruce Banner transforms into the Hulk while uttering the three famous words “I'm always angry”, the Avengers truly assemble. The joint action sequences mixed with rib-tickling banter are everything the fans wanted from such a collaboration. This scene also built the pedestal for future entries into the Avengers series.

4. Captain America vs. Iron Man (Captain America: Civil War) 2016

In addition to the airport battle, Civil War contains another sequence that is equal parts heartbreaking and riveting. Towards the final act, the plot reveals that it was a brainwashed Bucky aka The Winter Soldier who murdered Tony Stark's parents. The final nail in the coffin for Tony is that Steve knew about this and remained silent all these years. The revelation fractures their relationship beyond repair and leads to a bloody exchange of blows. Iron Man is obviously overpowered by the two super-soldiers but is spared by Cap. This scene spells the end of an era as it closes the doors of friendship between two of the grandest MCU icons.

Possibly the worst cliffhanger in cinematic history, the snap devastated audiences across the globe. With the war in Wakanda reaching its climax, the Mad Titan's appearance on the battlefield was terrible news. Thor almost prevents the catastrophe, but a wounded Thanos snaps his fingers, exclaiming that the God of Thunder “should have gone for the head”. To witness the aftermath is painful, to say the least. With characters like Black Panther, Spider-Man, Scarlet Witch, Doctor Strange, Star-Lord and more crumbling to dust, the stakes for the sequel got incredibly high.

2. Spider-Men together (Spider-Man: No Way Home) 2021

After an insufferable amount of rumours and leaks surrounding the latest Spider-Man outing, the final product did not disappoint. The third act of the film sees Tobey Maguire, Andrew Garfield and Tom Holland don their respective Spidey suits and face off against the most iconic collection of villains from across the three franchises. The Statue of Liberty battle is a love letter to fans of the character, having moments that are filled with high-octane action and nostalgia.

1. Avengers Assemble (Avengers: Endgame) 2019

Undoing Thanos' snap is the main agenda of the fourth Avengers film that culminates in possibly the greatest moment in MCU history. Goosebumps are clearly in order as Strange opens the portals, bringing in every hero imaginable to join Captain America's side. The following fight against the Mad Titan's army is exhilarating and gives enough screen-time to all major characters as they rip their way across foes, protecting the Infinity gauntlet. From Cap's “Avengers Assemble” and Tony hugging Peter to Gamora kicking Quill in the groin and the ladies joining forces to demolish the cavalry, this battle is laden with pure superhero goodness and is a flagbearer for peak cinema experience.
