Food prices are almost completely due to weather events and logistical problems.

Legit the weather in california the last year and a half is insane.

And it isnt just cali, but peru as well. When we stop getting local blueberries we primarily source them from peru.

This year peru had some wild shit happen and blueberries shot up over 60% in price when they were even available.

The weather has fricked tomatoes too the last month with massive prorates on what is even on the market.

Strawberries, raspberries, blackberries - all got wiped out at some point and up to 60% of them were lost in the field.

Potatoes got wiped out by weather multiple times this year causing huge pro rates.

Orange harvests were horrible due to weather and large shipments were rejected due to quality.

The amount of cost inflation the weather is putting on our food supply chain is insane.

There's also under-buying in several regions due to shitty forecasting causing prices to further go up due to supply shortages.

Id expect asparagus to go up in price in the northwest soon due to huge shipments reiected for quality reasons repeatedly.

But if weather patterns continue like this I'd expect to see prices on several food items keep climbing - and theres no easy solution to this.

Heck at one point last year a disease wiped out basically the entire lettuce supply around cali/oregon/Washington. The price went up over 70% for a month.

I get to sit in corporate meetings twice a week and listen to them whine about supply chain issues and weather.

You guys would be amazed at how much food goes up in price due to even slight weather changes.

I stopped apearing and stopped answering in any calls and emails once they started to invite me to meetings.

I just couldn't take that corporate bullshit anymore.

Took them few months to fire me.
