Masks are not created equal.
The vast majority of people used dumb cloth, but for the sake of the argument lets just say they are all wearing surgical masks.
If you are sick and symptomatic, you should stay home. But hey, you got a mask so you go out. It offers little protection to others but it may catch a sneeze from hitting a passerby.
Thats it, thats the benifit, if you sneeze your garbage might not hit your surroundings. Sure if your symptomatic, wear a mask, but younreally shouldnt be out coughing on people anyway.
But if you are in close quarters for an extended period and coughing your mask does frick all.
But thats not what we are talking about. We are talking about mask mandates. EVERYONE is wearing a mask.
Most people are not sick.
Now everyone has a dirty vector on their FACE. One the touch tonadjust every few minutes. Congratulations, you may have just stuck your fingers in your mouth, because you are breathing that for the rest of the day. Oh, and no one is changing their mask every 2-4 hrs as they should.
Its a basic behavior/compliance issue.
It has the opposite effect.
I spent 2 years watching medical professionals adjust their masks with dirty gloves because they were forced in to them for 12 hr days. If these ppl cant follow proper ppe, what the heck do you think the public is doing?

Yes, if you dont need, dont wear it, and if you need it use it properly, and then shortly dispose. If you mandated people do 20 squats a day, 10% of people might improve their health and join a gym. The rest of the r-slurs are going to find a way to blow out their knees.
Fauci was unironically right when he fricking finally said, "yeah masks only work on a personal basis".
