The amerimutt is immunized against all dangers: One may call him a german, italian, polack, irish, it all runs off him like water off a raincoat. But call him an amerimutt and you will be astonished at how he recoils, how injured he is, how he suddenly shrinks back: "I've been found out"

I will never understand some !burgers' inability accept that they're American and nothing else.
Trying to cope with a cultural identity that's entirely foreign to you based on some vague sense of blood bond is dumb as shit.
You already hit the jackpot by being born in the U.S. of A. Wear it with pride!

We didn't hit the jackpot, we're descended from the people brave enough to leave the small podunk village in Europe and go take up the US's offer of free opportunity.
Europoors are descended from peasants who made a conscious decision to remain peasants.

That's the only the case of the North, the South descends from knights and gentry and their retainers and servants/tenants

You are right and it's always a fun fact to bring up to anti immigration bootstraps rightoids "I would stay in my country and fix it" No you wouldn't, and neither did your ancestors who rather sailed one continent away than to deal one more second living in the trashfire that was 18th century Europe

Irish burgers are probably the worse offenders. Especially the IRA supporters
It's okay to hate bongs, but don't act like you were personally affected by the Troubles

"Irish" in Ireland are the most pathetic. They're thoroughly bongified. Meanwhile there's places in Boston that have been legit Irish for 200 years and haven't given up their character to do better as a tax haven.

Anyone with a brain left during the Famine. All that was left were the dregs. The "Irish" today are descendants of those dregs.

This was my reply:
Not all groups did, British groups, minus the Irish, dispersed, or at least outside of the major cities.
Scotch-Irish/Ulster Scots technically also maintained their group but only in Pennsylvania and Midwest. People say people in Appalachia south of Pennsylvania and the South in general descend from them are believing in a total meme. Almost no one from the region identifies themselves as descending from the Scottish.

To this day one of my favourite moments i witnessed in person was an American tourist try and order an βIrish car bombβ in a pub in London.
I don't know if he thought he was being funny or he genuinely didn't know but when half the regulars started staring daggers at him he looked like he was about to shit himself

I've only met maybe two people who actually cared and the one was incredibly immature for her age. I think it's more of a meme online than anything else. Some Americans do like tracing their family history due to their families coming over from Europe and migrating from specific areas in the US. It's pretty cool seeing the timeline, especially if your relatives came from early settler colonies.
The "mutt" meme are almost entirely photos of Mexicans and Cubans, some of whom aren't even in the US.

It really is fascinating. I think east coast cities and media portraying them are in part to blame, burgers see the tight knit immigrant communities and how there are Irish and Italian neighborhoods and it looks like a cool thing and a source of pride. This leads to some r-slur in Iowa saying
I'm Irish
and because they don't have much awareness of the world they literally can't tell the difference.

I will never claim to be anything but American but on both sides of my family I have living, first degree, relatives that live in different countries. Both sets of grandparents came from said countries as well. How much heritage do I get to claim if I wished to do so? Idk I want your guys' perspective on this just bc I'm interested.
