Man cancels restaurant reservation because they went to the hospital. Restaurant charges $250 cancellation fee that he gets reversed. Restaurant owner goes insane in his DMs.

It's been only 24 hours and the restaurant is marked as permanently closed and here is their Yelp for your viewing pleasure: Check out Table!

I've decided the customer was wrong because he wrote 10x :marseylongpost: :marseylongpost: :marseylongpost: more words than the :marseyfoidretard: running the place

Also credit card disputes are no joke for small businesses

https://tableboston.com/menu/#dinner-menu

It's apparently a pre-set, seven course meal for $125 per person.

Why would you willingly go to a slave state that doesn't adhere to the Constitution and criminalizes citizens for exercising their constitutional rights?

Who the frick would go to a literal slave state disarmed where pigs can throw you in prison for your God given right to keep and bear arms

That cancelation fee is absurd though if it's the cost of the whole meal. That's like the fee a place with several Michelin stars and $500pp meals would charge.

It's pretty standard, their bill would likely have been higher than the fee and restaurants like that would almost always be full for the night and they usually have a small amount of seating so losing a table is a significant loss. High end restaurants don't get a lot of walk ins since most people off the street aren't willing to spend 125 dollars for multiple courses, they survive off reservations.

The whole thing is dumb anyway since they make it clear when booking that there's a no show/cancellation fee so it's their fault 100%

They also make it clear that you should chargeback and then cry about it.

Which is not at all a bad price.

These sorts of cancellation fees are normal at high-end restaurants where reservations are scarce. I know this will sound alien to most people here, but this is a normal practice.

It's almost never the price of the full meal.

Not near me at least, they usually charge 50% of the bill. 100% is usually reserved for when you ghost them.

No sorry nobody is gonna pay $250 not to eat at a restaurant. Also this place isn't high-end it's some frickin dump run by some libtard twat

Yeah once I found out that it was fine dining I changed my tune. I'm on the southie b-word's side now

I don't think it's really fine dining, it's like family style Italian food, I think she's just pretentious. $125 is more 2x the cancelation fee of Jean Georges. I looked it up and it's almost as much as the cancelation fee of Per Se.

Italian food

Poor people food. Italian food is what you get when people live in a shanty on the side of a mountain and don't have any cattle but they've got a tomato.

Nah. The cost of the whole meal is not a normal cancellation fee.

only seems psycohtic if you're unfamiliar with fine dining

Jump in the discussion.

The entire cost of the meal is not a standard cancellation fee. And regardless, fine dining is r-slurred pretentious bullshit and it should generally be assumed that none of their policies are valid anyway.

Jump in the discussion.

No email address required.

Nope. Small restaurants that only do prix fixe spend all day making the food so you can show up in the evening and get 7 smooth courses. You don't get to cancel last minute and not pay for that

Jump in the discussion.

Maybe they should develop a less r-slurred business model, then. I may or may not have a longstanding grudge against fine dining

Jump in the discussion.

Everyone I have ever known that is or was even remotely involved in fine dining (not a huge sample set but more than one) has had a stupidly, rslurredly inflated ego. It's like it's contagious within the "industry".

Same. Everyone who works in it and everyone who pays for it. The food isn't even fricking good most of the time, it's just a giant group of r-slurs circlejerking each other about how fancy and high class they are. Hard goddarn pass.
