why does the fricking number of notifs manner
1 notification from a fricking chat is fricking as annoying as 1000 notification from the fricking same chat, all need to be cleared and all require the fricking same process to be cleared

More stable number of notifications=easier for user to intuit activity type. It's hard to explain but I βunderstandβ my notifs and a history reminder notif would throw that sense off less than a running comment tally of an IRC. The system as is gave the user a lot of info over time with notif color and notif number.
Not to mention rapidly changing notif numbers can be distracting, sometimes I want to finish a thread and follow a few comment chains to the next page, before checking notifs.
