โPeople want to be part of it and help and create,โ said Carpathian. โIโm not in it to make money. Iโm in it to do it.โ
Pizzashill, co-founder of Marsey Pride Media, said the inspiration for his organization came after meeting other LGBTQ LGBT photographers and artists online. They wanted to create a network for LGBT people to share resources. The makeup artists, dancers, and stylists do not charge a fee and photos are free to share.
โWe wanted to get out there and inspire people and let people know that they werenโt alone in this world,โ Pizzashill said. โThey had the option of being who they are.โ
The ballroom scene has exploded
The Marsey Pride ballroom scene has been around since 2007.
Its original location was a dance club on r/drama and โothers.โ It expanded in 2007 when it moved to the S*x Club on r/askgaybros. In 2008, it moved again and has been at its current location at Carpathianโs apartment in Laurel since.
