I think about this whenever extremists talk about scaling up the criminal justice system to imprison this-or-that group. It just doesn't make sense because prisons work by removing people from society, but this is functionally MOVING society. Who takes the spoils of this forced emigration? What does this exile society do with IT'S exiles?
