It's all a big larp, people play politics and social media like it's a sport. Everyone just wants to log on and circle jerk about how vindicated they are in their beliefs and how evil the other team are. It doesn't matter to them if the tweets are fake or not, they get to feel good attacking the enemy and that is all that matters to them. And if they are lucky and do enough circle jerking they might even end up with a following of people obsessed with doing the same thing which might allow them to make money doing it.
