An octopus ball shop posted a "challenge" for April Fool's Day. In the photo below, only the section in between the green line is visible on the feed, and when you click it, it displays the rest, including the "April Fools" implying it's a joke. 
The challenge dares that whoever gets their logo tattooed in their forehead will win around 100,000 Philippine pesos or around 1800 US dollars.
Same old dead horse corporate joke right? However, one guy started to comment that he's actually doing it 
Context: April Fool's Day is NOT practiced here in the Philippines. Personally I only learned about when I was 15 when I saw the Google Doodle.
Hours later, the octopus ball shop posted reiterating that it is an April Fool's joke, and they're not liable for whoever took it seriously. 
This created a massive backlash.
At first, personally, I chalked it up to ignorance, but as we look at the post history of the guy who got the tattoo, it's actually kinda sad... He's desperate for money and suicidal.

Soulless as in it's trying too hard to be "International" without preserving our own culture. It doesn't have any personality (unless you go the slums where you'll likely be scammed, stabbed or both).
I recommend the island of Cebu, it's got the balance of comfort (fancy hotels) and adventures (beaches and mountains). You can do the following things in within 10 minutes - 4 hours from the airport:
Stay at five star hotels
Island hopping
Swimming with whale sharks
Canyoneering (go to the jungle and go down by swimming in the rivers and waterfalls)
Other islands that are recommended are: Palawan (a bit of a challenge in travel) and Siargao (overrun by gen z white bois) and Boracay (overrun by Chinese)
Just please I am begging you don't rent a scooter, Asian driver bad stereotype is VERY real here

Yeah, when I was in the Philippines most people in the cities could speak English pretty good, places like Palawan, not so much. At least in Mindinao I could more or less understand Chavacano.
There were a few people, especially older ones, that were quite proud of speaking standard Spanish.

I have a couple filopino friends that emigrated to the US and they both know like 8 different languages fluently and they will post on SM using all of them interchangeably.
