My office just hired a blind person

Literally full blown Stevie Wonder holding a walking stick blind.

Their role is a social worker (!) role and they have to visit clients at their home in the community, so my manager has to ALSO hire a helper for the blind person to type for them, set up assistive tech, drive them everywhere, guide them through patient's homes, and I saw the tech talking on the phone for them today (the one thing I'd assume they actually could do).

I don't want to dox myself but I cannot describe how ill-suited this industry is to a blind person.

Interesting question. What jobs can blind people even do? :marseythinkorino: Deafs and mutes can still perform most tasks in a given job, but blind? You're kinda fricked.

Probably something over the phone. Some sort of information assistance, but they'd have to memorize it from braile or audio or something.

Gov/company admin jobs, call centres, radio and TV are pretty good options, the assistive software for PCs is great actually I used to use the speech to text to write essays
