[personal drama] Went to visit a boarding school in my state since I heard great things about it for my severely neurodivergent niece and who the frick is paying $300 a day for this.

One of the bathrooms had trace marks of β€˜I want to kill you all', toured the grounds which were good until multiple girls from the house she'd be placed into spent the 30 minutes screaming and throwing stuff around the house, staff member accidentally opened her email with the first few messages being self harm and peer risks. Who the frick would let somebody they love attend a place like this. Im a high functioning autist and even I would frick out of that instantly, let alone letting a severely neurodivergent child enter that environment.

At least her parents are rich enough to throw her away in an institute.

Most neurodivergent girls just get turned out.

I'm the one fronting the bill. Residency and meds + medical bills is only like $250k a year and with her government support it's closer to 28-29k per year so nothing I'm concerned about.

I just want to make sure she can get support and live a life where she's capable of getting groceries without going full neurodivergent between walking to and from the grocery store.

She's only 6 so hopefully this helps her. I wanted to start her on these programs when she was 4 but my previous sister in law straight up refused and still denies the autism Dx. :marseyraging:

When did people decide autism means you're an easily suggestible sheeple? 10 years ago being neurodivergent meant you were a freethinking info warrior who saw past the propaganda

Hard to say, maybe 20-25 years ago? Hyper-fixation ADD was kind of the start and autism Dx's is somewhat newer like 10-15 years ago. Susceptibility to conspiracy isn't that uncommon given people with severe autism are more willing to take things at face value and conspiracy theorists wanting to distance themselves from being labeled neurodivergent.
