[personal drama] Went to visit a boarding school in my state since I heard great things about it for my severely neurodivergent niece and who the frick is paying $300 a day for this.

One of the bathrooms had trace marks of β€˜I want to kill you all', toured the grounds which were good until multiple girls from the house she'd be placed into spent the 30 minutes screaming and throwing stuff around the house, staff member accidentally opened her email with the first few messages being self harm and peer risks. Who the frick would let somebody they love attend a place like this. Im a high functioning autist and even I would frick out of that instantly, let alone letting a severely neurodivergent child enter that environment.

What do you mean "even I"? As if a normal person (I'm being kind) is more suited to that kind of environment lol. In any case, it's a million times better to keep the mentally r-slurred in one place rather than letting them into general ed where they can disrupt kids who actually have a chance of, you know, learning their times tables or how to read or whatever

It's a boarding school, not SpED in a public school. SpED in private schools allows them to be around others with similar dysregulation and triggers and don't need to live with 15 other people 24/7 outside of what's called a pass, where they get to leave the their peers and work on their behavioral skills in a public setting on weekends and match the expected education of people their age.
