It can teach you ways to cope, better react and manage, it can't cure severe mental illness if there is a biogenetic component. It can't really cure PTSD, just help you recognize triggers (using in mental health terminology) and better react to them.
I cope pretty well considering.
Plus I've gone through extensive trauma since then.
