Deadlifts don't really mess with knees, least never made my knee hurt when it wasn't feeling good.
I'd say also stretch a bit before doing anything.

If your knees are that weaksauce you need to spend time stretching. Most fitness forums understate how important proper stretching is to muscle health, you should really do it daily if you can. Look up some knee stretches and try that for a few weeks. Hold each stretch for at least 30s for max effect, preferably after a workout when you're still warm.
